I have taken my Citizenship Test and submitting my application for Citizenship – that can only be done if the test is passed.
Apparently there is a pamphlet that is provided that contains all the answers to whatever questions you are asked. There is a bit of controversy around the test and whether it is relevant or too hard. Considering that it is a multiple choice test of 20 questions (randomly taken from the collection that they have) and the pass is 60% and the questions relate to the country that you have been living in for at least the last two years and the answers were covered in the pamphlet, I don’t see how it could be too hard. Anyway, I decided to not read the pamphlet as I have lived here for 10 years and feel that I am aware of my environment and the culture of the place. If I can’t pass, then that would be something to make me think about.
So they put me in the test room in front of a computer and told me that I had 45 minutes to complete the test. Well, 3 ½ minutes later I’d finished and got 90% and that was that. It didn’t tell me which two I got wrong, but my guess was the ones that asked ‘what year did x happen’ where I could only guess as I’m rubbish at history at the best of times.
Anyway, I submitted the application and they processed there and then and congratulated me on becoming a citizen of Australia – with just a ceremony required to complete the process. |
