I first encountered Father Bob when he appeared on one of John Saffran's TV shows. I was comfortably playing the grumpy old man role and I have always found that funny and had a great turn of phrase and made me laugh. Then I discovered the podcast of John's Sunday night radio show that was he and Bob - the show is interesting and the two of them play off each other well - it is 90 minutes of pleasure that I listen to once a week. Over the time, I have seen Bob at a couple of events on his own where I discovered much more as to who he is, what he thinks and what drives him - he is an incredibly generous, spiritual and good man - he lives it rather than talks about it. He is also very irreverent and funny - a great turn of phase and talks very good sense of humour. Last year, there was a the launch of a book about Bob and he was there as was John and Shaun Miccalef to provide another fine evening. Though I bought the book, I haven't read it.
Anyway, another book has been launched about him and I knew when the launch was and where, but I couldn't find details so I wasn't sure how to get there. I went to the Town Hall and they weren't sure so I popped over to Father Bob's Foundation and he was there so I asked him about it and he gave me an invite.
I arrived early for the launch so popped into a cafe to kill time and John S was there so I got to chat to him for about 20 minutes about the book he was writing, so the night started well.
Upon arrival to the launch, I found that it was a private function by the book company so I was a bit of an outsider, but I got free food and wine and got to enjoy lots of laughter and thought provoking stuff. Once again, I bought the book, but doubt whether I will read it as I hardly read anything nowadays - the technology world distracts me too much.
David is a work friend of Carolyn's and we were invited to a dinner to celebrate his birthday. It was a restaurant called Brother Fox that is owned by David's partner's family and we had the back room and some fine food and drink was enjoyed. I had met a couple of the other people there on a previous occasion, so it wasn't so awkward as it might have been. It was a good evening and a good way to spend a chilly evening.
Another enjoyable night with Bec and Sharon in one of my favourite restaurants in the city, the Money Order Office. Good food, enjoyable conversation, quality company and numerous laughter. What more could be asked for?
Southpaw I have met Nadine previously as she is a good friend of Stephs and therefore we have been to the same events with her. She has recently been travelling for a while and now she's back, it was a chance to catchup and the three of us to share tales of adventures - a good night, but cut short as I had to do some work and therefore had to head home damnit.
This is a play that has returned after a successful run a couple of years ago, but this time in a larger theatre. It is the story of the Mama's and Papa's and the four main actors are fine singers and do credit to the material. It can't really fail as Mama Cass is played by the incredible Casey Donovan who can sing like few others - stunning. It is a great show and the music is stuff I know and love, so it is the perfect show for me - it was just as good seeing it for a second time and I would happily see it again. I hope that it gets picked up and then more people can get to enjoy it - I know of two other sets of people who went who share that sentiment.

I know Nadine as she is a good friend of Steph's and therefore our paths have crossed. She is an interesting person who is another who is open to life's offers of adventure. She had just been away for a few weeks traveling when we caught up this time. She has also just found love so she was bubbling even more than usual. It was a lovely catchup, but unfortunately I had to leave early to do some work! I know - crazy behaviour indeed.
